mollasses

somehow i feel that, based on the title, some of you may have already guessed what happened.....

i've decided to dedicate this post to mollasses, or as they say en français, mélasse.

today, more than any other day, i feel like mollasses deserves to be recognized.

Slow like mollasses. i've been living in québec for about a month now. actually, a month exactly, today is the 29th of september and i started school on the 29th of august. since then, although i have seen some improvement in my french, it has been slow coming. this is i guess what happens, when you are litterly the smartest person in the program-some days you learn something new, others you just reinforce what you already knew. this week, well, week and a half, has been fantastic for me. i learned alot of new stuff, was officially named the "dictionary" of the class (a title which i don't actually like, i'm not a dictionary. I'm a bescherelle :)) and with my family i've started to really come out of my shell (no ban, still not ready yet to call guy a vielle toupie)

tonight after supper was finished guy, michel and i were sitting around the table and chatting. well, guy and michel were talking. i was sitting there.............................anyways, michel got up and went to watch tv. and so it was just me and guy. and it was great. we talked, we laughed and most importantly, i understood. we talked about our fathers (no mother, she still doesn't know you're a nurse) and marriage and Billy Ray and why did myET just send me an email? i don't even like that show......ANYWAYS, back to guy. it was great. its hard to believe i'm going back to mb in less than a week-even though i know i'm coming back, i feel as though i'm finally making some progress and it's gonna stop after a week in anglo canada.
anyways, back to mollasses.

Perhaps the word mollasses made you think of the delicous meal my old host mom Jacinthe made me.....roast beef, potatoes and........ mollasses.......... ughhh....*shutters*....... well, it makes me think of Jacinthe. and how she was a mean bitch. and it makes me happy, because my new host family is fantastic.

for example, michel, my host father. . we're doing something tomorrow because guy has to work (she's a nurse, and no mother, once again, i still haven't told her you're a nurse) and caro starts work @ timmy ho's tomorrow. so yeah, i didn't quite understand what he said.... :D but yeah we're doing somthing demain. after i wake up. (they already know how much i love to nap and sleep.....) and it was the cutest thing. he was like, Tara guess what? i watched a show today on western canada and about how towns like edmonton were formed and i thought of you. it was so cute.

anyways, more importantly, the final reason why mollasses is important and the word/theme of the day.......michel.

tonight at supper michel, and ban you can start to cring now, grabbed a peice of white bread, slathered about 3 pound of butter on it, and then...................put mollasses allllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooover it. it was one of the grosses things i have ever seen. besides the pizza and butter incident.......

WHY DO THE QUÉBÉCOIS(ES) LOVE GROSS THINGS ON THEIR FOOD?

(on a side note, for my atelier de conversation we have to make up a product and make a commecial for it. my idea, which probably won't end up happening, but i enjoy it quand même: the sauce québécois. a mixture of everything they love-gravy, mayo, butter, mollases, cheese, maybe some wine, some beer, and, you get the picture.)
